Self-Service Password Reset is a feature that allows COSTI employees to change their password online without having to contact Tech Support for assistance. This feature enables you to change the password for your main (Active Directory) account, which allows you to login to your computer, Office 365 (email, Teams, OneDrive, etc.). It will NOT work for your VPN account/password.

By following the steps below, you can change your password in case you forgot it, or suspect the old password might be compromised in any way. Please make sure your password contains a combination of uppercase characters, lowercase characters, digits (0-9), and special characters (e.g., #, $).

  1. Go to https://aka.ms/sspr and click sign in:

  2. If you have more than one Microsoft account, you might be asked to select one. Please select “Work or school account”, otherwise go to step 3:

    :

  3. Enter your account name (email address), then characters in the picture or the words in the audio, and click Next:

  4. If you provided both authentication options in the initial setup (cellphone and questions/answers), select the option you wish to use to verify your request. For the Questions/Answers option jump to Step 11.
For the SMS code (cellphone) authentication, enter your cellphone number, select whether you wish to receive the code by text or by call, then click on “text”:

  5.  Input the text code received on registered device and click "next":

  6.  Enter your new password and click Finish:

  7.  Wait for about one minute until the new password is synchronized in all places.
  8. Click on “click here” in the Get back into your account pop-up:

  9.  Note: Ensure the laptop is connected to the VPN. Then, lock the screen and log in using the new password to verify the change. Please note that it may take up to 30 minutes for the password to sync via Azure AD Connect.
